Packing that survives the truck

  • Heavy items go in small boxes, light items in large boxes, never the reverse.
  • Label every box on two sides with the destination room, not the contents of the old room.
  • Use towels, linens and clothing as free padding for fragile kitchenware.
  • Take a photo of the back of your TV and computer before unplugging anything.
  • Keep hardware for disassembled furniture in labelled zip bags taped to the piece.
  • Pack a first-night box per person so nobody digs through the truck at midnight.

Travel time between locations and materials such as wardrobe boxes or mattress bags are listed separately. Long-distance moves are quoted on weight and distance instead of hours.
